Asia Cup 2022: Twitter Reacts As Mohammed Shami Misses Out The Indian Squad For The Tournament

India’s T20I roster for the Asia Cup has been selected, bringing Virat Kohli back after a hiatus of more than a month following the completion of the tour of England on July 17. But Jasprit Bumrah wasn’t on the team that was announced late on Monday night. Due to a rib ailment, Harshal Patel was also not available for selection.
Bumrah was rested for the forthcoming ODI series in Zimbabwe and did not travel to the West Indies after the tour of England. Additionally, Kohli missed the most recent ODI and T20I series in the Caribbean because he was rested.
Prior to the home series against Australia and South Africa and the T20 World Cup starting in Australia in October, the Asia Cup is India’s third-to-last T20I assignment.

India Will Play Pakistan In The First Match
The most recent ODI-format Asia Cup match took place in 2018, and India is the reigning champion. They had triumphed over Bangladesh in a nail-biting game that came down to the final ball in Dubai.
India will face Pakistan in their opening match of the T20 Asia Cup on August 28. This will be the first time the two teams have faced one other since their encounter in the T20 World Cup last year.

The Asia Cup was intended to be hosted in Sri Lanka this year, but it was switched to the UAE last month due to the island nation’s severe economic woes. Despite the fact that the tournament is being held in the UAE, SLC will remain the tournament’s official host.
In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel, fans were disappointed to not see Mohammed Shami in the squad.
Here’s how twitter reacted to Mohammed Shami missing out India squad for Asia Cup 2022:
It's clear now that Md Shami is not in the scheme of things for the T20 World Cup. Exactly why you wouldn't want an experienced, prolific wicket-taker in your team for a marquee event is beyond me.

With Jasprit Bumrah And Harshal Patel Ruled Out Of Asia Cup Due To Injuries ,I Personally Want Mohammad Shami In The Squad Due To The Variation And Experience He Brings.
Who Are Your 4 Fast Bowlers For Asia Cup ? ?

Yo Deepak Chahar backup but what's that last guy doing ? How did he even get selected without doing anything? Leave Chahar even Shami is 10x better than that ? pic.twitter.com/oU8IJlRWlG

How big a set back will it be without Bumrah in the Asia Cup…??? Likely to be ruled out… shami must be back then @BCCI

I'd pick Shami now and hope he gives me powerplay wickets with Arshdeep/Bhuvi to take care of the death overs. Any day over Avesh.

As expected, KL & Virat returns, Iyer played a fine knock in last match but the overall batting performance in series cost him his place while Hooda made most of his chances. Altho I personally wanted Shami to be given a chance but mgmt seems to get away from him in this format. https://t.co/4mZTeOn6Mk

No Mohammad Shami or Deepak Chahar in India’s Asia Cup Squad. India’s Fast bowling lineup seems to be bit weak. Its a surprise that Indian Selectors didn’t consider a brilliant & such an experienced bowler like Mohd Shammi even in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. #AsiaCup2022 #bcci

This means, and I am not sure I agree with it, that Shami isn't part of the plans. They are looking at another death bowler to accompany Bumrah and that is where Arshdeep gets the nod.

Shami for Avesh & Axar for Ashwin would have been better https://t.co/8VW8B4d5EL

Where is Shami ???
With this bowling line up difficult to win the matches ? #TeamIndia #AsiaCup https://t.co/5LvYDq1040— ?Tarak Anu❤️ (@tarak_jp_) August 8, 2022
