Asia Cup 2022: Virat Kohli Does Not Need Me To Tell Him To Work Hard: AB De Villiers

Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) teammate AB De Villiers has backed senior Indian batter Virat Kohli to win the upcoming Asia Cup in 2022.

The Proteas legend regarded him as one of the greatest players in the game’s history.

De Villiers stated that a player of Kohli’s calibre does not require advice on what to do during a slump. He also stated that the two have a great friendship and are always in touch.

Kohli, who was rested for the tours to the West Indies and Zimbabwe, will return to action in the Asia Cup 2022 opener against archrivals Pakistan on August 28 in Dubai.

For the past 33 months, former India captain Virat Kohli has been stuck on 70 international centuries. He last scored a century against Bangladesh in November 2019.

Fans are waiting with bated breath for Kohli to return to century-scoring form and respond to his critics in style by delivering in the Asia Cup.

The under-fire batter struggled during the England tour, scoring only 12 runs in two Twenty20 Internationals. He followed it up with ODI scores of 16 and 17, respectively.

After a month off, the 33-year-old is expected to return to the purple patch. Kohli enjoys playing Pakistan. As a result, the opposition may bring out the best in him. In seven matches against Pakistan, he has scored 311 runs.

“Virat [Kohli] is one of the greatest cricketers ever to play the game. The form is temporary, class is permanent. Virat remains world-class. Virat and I remain in regular contact. We are friends, and he certainly does not need me to tell him the importance of working hard during a bad patch”, De Villiers said on NDTV.

Virat was recently seen enjoying his time in Mumbai.
