Ajay Jadeja, a former cricketer for India, sent out a warning to both Pakistan and India, saying they should “be wary” of them in the Super Four after Afghanistan stunned many with their excellent performance at the continental competition.
The Mohammad Nabi-led Afghan team started the campaign with a commanding eight-wicket victory against Sri Lanka, and they continued that momentum into Tuesday night’s victory over Shakib al Hasan’s Bangladesh.
The bowler that has excelled the most thus far has been Mujeeb Ur Rahman of Afghanistan. In Afghanistan’s first two games, he has already claimed five wickets. The most effective bowler in the Afghanistan squad is Rashid Khan, the team’s top spinner, who has three kills in as many games. Rashid’s economy is now 4.25.
The hitters, including Hazratullah Zazai, Ibrahim Zadran, and Najibullah Zadran, have been in contact. In fact, in the match against Bangladesh, Ibrahim and Najibullah contributed 69 runs for the fourth wicket in just 33 balls as both batted undefeated. Ibrahim scored 42 from 41 balls, but Najibullah destroyed Bangladesh’s bowling attack with a 17-ball 43 that included one 4 and six 6s.
I won’t be surprised if they knock one of the big teams off: Ajay Jadeja
Ajay Jadeja, a former cricketer for India, sent out a warning to both Pakistan and India, saying they should “be wary” of them in the Super Four after they stunned many with their slick performance at the continental competition.
“Teams should be wary when they play these guys in Super 4s. When you play these guys in the Super 4, I won’t be surprised if they knock one of the big teams off,” Ajay Jadeja remarked while speaking on Cricbuzz on Tuesday.
Ajay Jadeja believes that Afghanistan’s greatest asset is its bowling, but he also praised the hitters for recognizing the situation and playing accordingly. “They possess the necessary firepower, and everyone is aware of their potential. They will not let you make a comeback if India or Pakistan are 20/2 or 30/2, respectively. These guys are capable of that.”
The fourth game of the 2022 Asia Cup will feature India vs. Hong Kong. The Dubai International Stadium will host the contest.
