Aakash Chopra, a former Indian player, questioned if India could manage the long-term effects of Ravindra Jadeja’s knee injury.
Before to India’s match against Pakistan, Chopra called the news concerning when discussing the Indian all-injury rounder’s on his YouTube channel.
India suffered a major setback ahead of its pivotal match against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022 Super Four round. Ravindra Jadeja, an all-rounder, has been diagnosed with a knee injury and will miss the rest of the Asia Cup 2022. Jadeja’s replacement for the continental competition has been named Axar Patel.
The news got much more concerning when it was revealed that Jadeja is scheduled to undergo knee surgery, which will keep him out for an extended period, causing him to miss the T20 World Cup in October.
This injury is a big headache for the team management: Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra, a former India opener, thinks that this injury is a major concern for the team management because it keeps happening.
“The news of Jadeja’s injury is alarming because it is not her first incident. Although you have Axar Patel as a stand-in, can you sustain Ravindra Jadeja’s absence over the long term given that it seems to be a recurring injury?”
“He balances the T20I team much like Hardik does, and if India wants a left-hander, he can even bat at No. 4 or No. 5,” Aakash Chopra said in a video posted on his YouTube channel.
So far in the Asia Cup, Ravindra Jadeja has contributed rather well both with the bat and the ball. He struck a critical 35 runs off of 29 balls in the opening game against Pakistan to help India complete a difficult run chase.
He stood out among the bowlers in the match against Hong Kong, posting figures of 1-15 from his 4 overs. He surpassed Irfan Pathan to become India’s leading wicket-taker at the Asia Cup in the process.
