IND vs PAK: As Far As The Combination Is Concerned, You'll Get To Know Tomorrow - Rohit Sharma On His Opening Partner For Match vs Pakistan

Updated - 27 Aug 2022, 09:46 PM

Indian captain Rohit Sharma said that the team has got plenty of answers after trying out new options for the opening role but insisted that his opening partner will be confirmed at the toss on Sunday.

Rohit has played with Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant in recent times due to the absence of regular opener, KL Rahul. Now that Rahul has returned from injury, Rohit is expected to pair with the Karnataka batter.

However, when enquired about the same on the eve of the clash against Pakistan, Rohit said that the final combination will be revealed on the day of the match.

Aap dekh lijie kal toss k baad kaun ayega. Thoda toh secret humko bhi rakhne do yaar. (You will get to see after toss tomorrow. Let us keep some secrets at least). We have decided to try new things. Some will work, some won’t. There’s no harm in trying. You won’t get answers if you don’t try. Whenever we get opportunities, we try new things.

As far as the combination is concerned, you’ll get to know tomorrow only but we, as a team, have decided to keep trying new things. We’ve got a lot of answers in the last six-eight months and that has happened only because we have tried new things,” Rohit said at the pre-match press conference.

Rohit also revealed that Virat Kohli has looked in good touch in the nets.
