Former India skipper Virat Kohli praised Pakistan captain Babar Azam after their thrilling match in the ongoing Asia Cup in the UAE.
After losing a group round match, Pakistan drew one back on India to equalize the score. They chased down 182 runs with one ball to spare, even though the Men in Green were guided by Mohammad Nawaz and Mohammad Rizwan.
When questioned about Babar in the post-game news conference, Virat Kohli spoke openly about their shared respect. Additionally, he said that the latter is constantly eager to learn and is not surprised that the 27-year-old is currently one of the finest players in all formats.
“Babar is a very kind guy. I have always had pleasant chats with him. I am not certain about connection, but there is always respect. He was always eager to learn new things. He approached me after our match in the 2019 World Cup. I have always maintained he is eager to learn, and it is no surprise that he is doing so in all formats of the game. He is a very talented player “Kohli stated.
There is mutual respect between both the teams: Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli claimed that although the competition between India and Pakistan is always heated on the field, the players get along well with it. It is always good to meet Babar Azam and his team when the two sides compete in multi-tournament or ICC competitions, he continued.
“It is always a pleasure to see him and the other guys (From Pakistan). They are all very friendly and get along well with everyone. Both teams have mutual regard for one another. That, I realized, was visible last year as well. On the field, we are fierce competitors but yet very courteous “Kohli continued.
