Team India is going to have an important match with the Sri Lankan team on Tuesday after the defeat against Pakistan in the Asia Cup.
Inzamam-ul-Haq, the former captain of the Pakistan cricket team says Team India is changing their starting XI too frequently. So far in their 2022 Asia Cup campaign, the Men in Blue have used three different starting XIs, with injuries complicating matters.
Rohit Sharma benched Rishabh Pant and picked veteran wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik for the group stage match against Pakistan. The right-handed wicketkeeper-batsman got a chance to play only one ball against Pakistan and didn’t get a chance to bat against Hong Kong in the next match. He was dropped for the Super 4 match against Pakistan on Sunday, September 4.
Ravindra Jadeja was ruled out of the Asia Cup due to a knee injury, and Deepak Hooda was brought into the starting XI. Hardik Pandya also returned to the lineup after resting out of the Hong Kong match. Meanwhile, Ravi Bishnoi took over for Avesh Khan, who was ill before the Pakistan match.
India Was Under Pressure: Inzamam-ul-Haq
“With all the changes they made, India looked like they were under pressure. They should not make these many changes. Dinesh Karthik did not face a ball and still lost his place in the playing XI. The team which India announced, I saw a little panic with it.”
Experimentation has been at the fore for Team India for the past ten months. However, with the 2022 T20 World Cup fast approaching, Rohit Sharma and the team are looking for their perfect playing XI as soon as possible.
Following their five-wicket defeat to Pakistan, Team India will need to win their remaining Super 4 stage matches to qualify for the 2022 Asia Cup final.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, started off their Super 4 campaign with a convincing victory over Afghanistan. Since losing by eight wickets to Afghanistan in the first Asia Cup match, Dasun Shanaka’s team has made a significant statement.
Sri Lanka Playing Good Cricket, We Will Get To See Good Cricket: Inzamam
Inzamam said that the team that wins the match today will have more chances to move forward. Sri Lanka has also won its first match.
“Sri Lanka play as a team, not as individuals. The way they have made a comeback after losing the first match has been tremendous. India has the edge over Sri Lanka, there is no doubt over that. But, the way Sri Lanka are playing at the moment, we will get to see some good cricket, “Inzamam added.
The match between India and Sri Lanka will be played at the Dubai International Stadium. The toss will play an important role in this match, as the team that wins the toss will prefer to bowl first. Actually, after the ball is a bit old at the Dubai International Stadium, it will prove to be effective for the spinners.
