Former Pakistan National Cricket Team batter Inzamam-ul-Haq has said that the former India National Cricket Team skipper Virat Kohli was “not looking confident even after getting set” in the high-voltage India-Pakistan Asia Cup 2022 clash.
The second match of the Asia Cup 2022 was played between Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team and Babar Azam-led Pakistan National Cricket Team at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, August 28. Chasing the 148-run target, Kohli came to bat in the first over itself after opener KL Rahul got out for a golden duck.
The 33-year-old didn’t look in good rhythm initially, but he finished as the joint top-scorer for India in the high-profile clash where India defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets. Kohli scored 35 runs off 34 balls, including 3 fours and 1 six.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Inzamam-ul-Haq said:
“There was a lot of pressure on Kohli yesterday. Usually, it is difficult to dismiss a set batter, but I was surprised to see yesterday that Kohli was not looking confident even after getting set.”
India’s middle order and lower middle order is very strong – Inzamam-ul-Haq
Former Pakistan National Cricket Team player further said that Team India have got a strong middle-order and lower middle-order batting unit.
He also spoke about India’s bold decision in the match against Pakistan to play Dinesh Karthik as the wicketkeeper-batsman in the playing XI ahead of Rishabh Pant. Inzamam said:
“India’s middle order and lower middle order is very strong. That is what sets them apart from the other teams in this Asia Cup. I was surprised that India chose to bench Rishabh Pant. The combination of Pant, Pandya and Jadeja is very dangerous. It was difficult to chase down 11 runs an over on this pitch, but they played really well.”
