Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar feels that if Virat Kohli wants to chase Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 international hundreds, he should quit one format of the game (T20Is).
Kohli presently has 70 international hundreds to his career but has not hit the three-figure mark since November 2019.
On September 4, Team India will return to play when they face Pakistan in a thrilling Super 4 match at the 2022 Asia Cup in Dubai. After Rohit Sharma’s thrilling five-wicket victory against Pakistan last Sunday, this will be the teams’ second encounter in the continental event (August 28).
The 33-year-old Virat Kohli, India’s star batter, returned to international duty during the Asia Cup after being rested for the country’s most recent limited-overs tours of the West Indies and Zimbabwe.
Even though he did not perform at his peak in the Asia Cup’s first two games, Kohli has been contributing runs. He hit 35 successive runs against Pakistan and finished the game against Hong Kong undefeated on 59 off 41 balls. He also partnered on 98 runs with Suryakumar Yadav.

In preparation for the match between India and Pakistan, Shoaib Akhtar made a statement on his official YouTube channel.
“Virat Kohli hasn’t been middling the ball really well. Both innings were quite patchy. He scored 59, I wish him the best. Mera ye hi mashwara Hoga Kohli ko ki dekh lo World Cup tak (My only suggestion to Kohli is to just wait till the T20 World Cup), if this format suits your or doesn’t suit you. 30 centuries Karni hai aur aage (you have to score 30 more centuries)” Shoaib Akhtar said.
India will return to action later on Sunday when they face archrival Pakistan in their first Super 4 match.
