Former Pakistan skipper Mohammad Hafeez has come in support of young Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh for his dropped catch against Pakistan.

Arshdeep dropped Asif Ali’s catch when Pakistan were 148/4 still needing 34 more runs to chase the target.

Pakistan were cruising towards a total of 182 as their opener Mohammad Rizwan provided them with a steady start getting 71 runs off 51 balls while Mohammad Nawaz also played a breathtaking knock of 42 runs off 20 balls.

Mohammad Hafeez Urges Indian fans to spare Arshdeep Singh

Asif Ali’s catch came at a time when Team India badly needed an opening to get back into the game.

Arshdeep failing to take that catch made it quite comfortable for Pakistan to chase down India’s total and put the pacer on the radar of angry Indian cricket fans

The left-arm pacer was trolled by the fans after India lost their first game of the Super 4 stage.

My request to all Indian team fans. In sports we make mistakes as we r human. Please don’t humiliate anyone on these mistakes. @arshdeepsinghh,” Hafeez tweeted.

Arshdeep Singh is Gold: Harbhajan Singh

The Punjab Pacer was badly trolled for the drop while getting some ‘ Cheap Remarks’ as well.

Former India off spinner Harbhajan Singh too came in support of the pacer and tweeted “Stop criticising young @arshdeepsinghh No one drop the catch purposely..we are proud of our boys .. Pakistan played better.. shame on such people who r putting our own guys down by saying cheap things on this platform bout arsh and team.. Arsh is GOLD”.

It was disheartening for the whole team and Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was furious about the spilling too.

The pacer came back strongly bowling a superb last over with some deadly yorkers but that wasn’t enough to restrict Pakistan from winning by five wickets.

India will next face Sri Lanka on Tuesday (September 6) whereas Pakistan will play Afghanistan on September 7.
