IND vs PAK: The Debate That Bhuvneshwar Kumar Needs To Bowl At 135-140 Kph To Survive In International Cricket, Was Absolute Crap – Gautam Gambhir

Former India National Cricket Team opening batsman Gautam Gambhir has said that the debate surrounding Bhuvneshwar Kumar that he needs to increase his pace to survive in international cricket is absolute crap.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar looked exceptional with the ball in the blockbuster Asia Cup 2022 game against arch-rivals Pakistan National Cricket Team at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, August 28. He bagged 4 wickets for 26 runs to help India bowl out Pakistan for 147 and the Men In Blue chased down the target in the final over to win by 5 wickets.

During a discussion on Star Sports, Gambhir was asked about his thoughts on how good Bhuvneshwar is currently. He responded by saying that Bhuvneshwar will continue to trouble the batters in international cricket as long as he can swing the ball. He elaborated:

“How good is Bhuvi now, because Bhuvi has started to swing the ball. The debate that was there that Bhuvneshwar Kumar needs to bowl at 135-140 kph if he has to survive in international cricket, it was absolute crap.

“His bowling is only to swing the ball. He will be extremely effective till the time he swings the new ball. He was always a good bowler at the death. No batter in the world likes swing, especially in the T20 format. They don’t mind pace.”

The 40-year-old further said that Bhuvneshwar might not be as talented as star pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami, but he knows his limitations very well, which is his speciality. He said:

“So Bhuvneshwar Kumar with his swing, always a very very lethal bowler. Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s biggest speciality is that whether you bowl him the first ball of the match or any other ball, he always bowls at a length that tests the batters.

“He knows his limitations. He might not be as talented as Mohammad Shami and Jasprit Bumrah but to know your limitations and to stick to them, to have different game plans, can make you extremely successful and that is Bhuvneshwar’s speciality.”
