Match 4 of the Asia Cup 2022 Super 4 round saw the clash between Babar Azam-led Pakistan National Cricket Team (A2) and Mohammad Nabi-led Afghanistan National Cricket Team (B2) at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, September 7.
Pakistan National Cricket Team defeated Afghanistan National Cricket Team by 1 wicket in the nail-biting encounter. With the win over the Mohammad Nabi-led side, the Men In Green knocked both India and Afghanistan out of the tournament and qualified for the final along with Sri Lanka.

Earlier, Pakistan National Cricket Team won the toss and continued the ‘win the toss and bowl first’ tradition. The Men In Green fielded an unchanged playing XI, while Afghanistan made two changes as Azmatullah Omarzai, who missed the last game due to illness, and Fareed Ahmad replaced Samiullah Shinwari and Naveen-ul-Haq.

Afghanistan openers Hazratullah Zazai and Rahmanullah Gurbaz were off to a decent start in the match. However, pacer Haris Rauf bagged the first wicket for his side by dismissing Rahmanullah Gurbaz in the 4th over. Mohammad Hasnain picked the second wicket by dismissing Hazratullah Zazai in the very next over. At the end of the powerplay, Team Afghanistan were at 48/2.
Karim Janat (15) and Najibullah Zadran (10) got out in the 12th and 14th over respectively. Also, captain Mohammad Nabi’s extremely poor form with the bat continued in the match against Pakistan, which was his 100th T20I, and he was cleaned up for a golden duck.

Meanwhile, Ibrahim Zadran played a decent 35-run knock before getting dismissed in the 17th over. In the end, Rashid Khan (18) and Azmatullah Omarzai (10) chipped in small contributions to help Afghanistan post 129/6 on the board.
Chasing the target, Babar Azam got out for a golden duck in the first over, which was bowled by Fazalhaq Farooqi. This was the 27-year-old’s 4th consecutive failure in the ongoing Asia Cup. Fakhar Zaman’s poor run of form also continued as he got run out for 5 in the 4th over.
Star wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan, who is currently the No.1 ranked batter in the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings, was unable to survive for very long against champion leg-spinner Rashid Khan and got out LBW in the 9th over for 20.

Iftikhar Ahmed and Shadab Khan, who was promoted in the batting order, added 42 runs in 41 balls together before the former was sent back to the pavilion for 30 by Fareed Ahmad in the 16th over. Also, vice-captain Shadab Khan did his job very well before losing his wicket in the 17th over. He scored 36 runs off 26 balls, including 1 four and 3 sixes.
In the end, Pakistan lost quick wickets of Mohammad Nawaz, Asif Ali, Khushdil Shah and Haris Rauf. However, Naseem Shah smashed back-to-back sixes in the final over to take Pakistan past the finish line.

This Asia cup has been amazing . Very under rated tournament. Lot of Passion and great fan following. They should keep playing more of these tri and quadrangular tournaments. Always fun. #PAKvAFG

Unbelievable game of cricket! Naseem with the fireworks at the end ? Pakistan were unconvincing with the bat, but they’re through to the final in the most dramatic fashion. Afghanistan put up a mighty effort with the ball & in the field. Great to watch! #PAKvAFG #AsiaCup2022
— Nikesh Rughani (@NikeshRughani) September 7, 2022
Just your everyday finish: players trying to throw punches at each other, Naseem Shah at No.10 hitting two sixes in the final over to take Pakistan to a nine-down win, and the final.
We shouldn't play T20I cricket outside of World Cups ?
— Ben Jones (@benjonescricket) September 7, 2022
Incredible win by Pakistan. Naseem Shah playing the innings of his life so far! Consecutive sixes off the first two balls and 14 not out of 4 balls. It's a Sri Lanka vs Pakistan final. Brilliant stuff.

More the clichés in commentary, the lesser is the research and preparation of commentators.
This Asia Cup has been completely laden with cliché based commentary. And that's true for every single commentator in the panel this time.
