Indian Cricket Team’s defeat against Australia has raised a lot of questions regarding their bowling. The Men in Blue were unable to defend 209 runs and lost the match by 4 balls remaining. Captain Rohit Sharma & Head Coach Rahul Dravid would be worried as the team’s performance in the death overs is getting worse match by match.

The likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar who is quite a senior bowler were once again targeted by the mighty Australians. The pacer’s pace off deliveries & short balls isn’t proving that effective. The management should think of bowling out Bhuvneshwar Kumar before 12 or 15 overs as we all know that the pacer is quite good with the new ball in hand.

Sunil Gavaskar on Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Legendary Captain & Batter Sunil Gavaskar was having an interaction with India Today and was asked about Bhuvneshwar Kumar. “We didn’t actually bowl as well. It’s a real concern. When somebody like a Bhuvneshwar Kumar is going for so many runs every single time, when he is expected in 18 deliveries in 3 matches that India have lost against Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Australia, he has given away 49 runs which is almost like 3 runs per ball. Someone of his experience and his calibre, you expect maybe he would give 35-36 runs. That really is an area of concern.” Gavaskar said.

Poor Death Bowling from Indian Bowling Attack

Australia National Cricket Team required 61 runs to win from the last 5 overs. There were only 2 recognized proper batters present in the form of Matthew Wade & Tim David. It was a tough task for Aussie batters but they targeted Bhuvneshwar Kumar & Harshal Patel.

In the 18th & 19th over Australia scored 38 runs and made fun of the target. Wade in particular was smashing the ball and Tim David was making sure to keep the scoreboard ticking. The duo reminded the run chase of ICC T20 World Cup 2021 Semi Final where Australia from nowhere had thumped the Men in Green. Australia made a statement that they are not here just to participate as chasing 209 runs is never an easy task in this modern era.
