In the third T20I, which would decide the series, between India and Australia on Sunday night in Hyderabad, Virat Kohli scored his 33rd half-century in T20Is. In order to assist his side win the match and the three-match series 2-1, Kohli struck the game-winning run of 63 off 48.

Thanks to his most recent performance, Virat Kohli has now scored more runs for his nation in international cricket than Rahul Dravid, who is currently the captain of the Indian cricket team.

The 33-year-old Kohli has now amassed 24,078 runs for India in 102 Tests, 262 ODIs, and 107 T20 Internationals. The greatest batter in cricket history, Dravid, on the other side, concluded his illustrious career with 24064 runs for India across all forms.

Dravid still tops Kohli in terms of the number of runs scored for India internationally, though. Throughout his career, he scored 24,208 runs while playing for teams from India, Asia, and the ICC.

Kohli’s brilliant performance in Hyderabad served as just another indicator that he is regaining his former form. The former India skipper finally got his century after waiting over three years by getting his first T20I century at the just-completed Asia Cup in the UAE.

He scored an unbroken 122, which was his 71st hundred overall and levelled the playing field with the illustrious Ricky Ponting.

“I’m happy with my contribution to the team, I took a break, went back to the nets, worked hard on my fitness and think it’s coming off well. I want to keep contributing and doing my best for the team,” Kohli said of his rich form.

The three-match T20I series against South Africa begins on Wednesday, and the in-form Kohli will soon be back in action. Prior to the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which begins on October 16 in Australia, India hopes to use these domestic T20 International matches to hone their perfect XI.
