India batter KL Rahul got his stumps rattled by Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa as he attempted to hit him out of the ground in the ongoing second T20I of the three-match series. The match is being played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Jamtha, Nagpur on September 23, 2022.
India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss in the rain-shortened match and chose to field first. The match was reduced to 8-over per side due to wet outfield and umpires’ injury concerns as well.
India made two changes with Rishabh Pant coming for Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah coming in for Umesh Yadav. Australia also brought in Sean Abbott and Daniel Sams coming into the side, as Nathan Ellis went out due to injury.
Australia completed their eight overs for 90/5 as Aaron Finch scored 31 in 15 balls with 4 fours and 1 six, while Matthew Wade made 43* in 19 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes to his name. For India, Axar Patel was the best bowler with 2 wickets in 2 overs for 13 runs.
Cameron Green and Steve Smith were run out, while Axar removed Glenn Maxwell for a golden duck and Tim David for just 2 runs. Jasprit Bumrah’s yorker ended Aaron Finch’s knock.
Adam Zampa Rattles KL Rahul’s Stumps As India Gets Off To A Flyer In 91-Run Chase
India’s chase started off on a flyer as captain Rohit Sharma hit Josh Hazlewood for two sixes in the first over itself, and Rahul added one more six to add insult to injury. Sharma continued as Pat Cummins was hit for a six as well.
This led to Finch bringing in leg-spinner Adam Zampa into bowl. Though Rohit Sharma hit him for a six, KL Rahul proved to be a dud against the leggie as he was castled on the first ball he faced.
Zampa bowled a low, skiddish delivery that went straight, while Rahul anticipating a wrong one went for the sweep, but had his stumps rattled. Rahul had made 10 runs in 6 balls.
