IND vs AUS: 3 Indian Players Who Can Replace Jasprit Bumrah For The 1st Test. Indian unit has been struggling with their bowling unit because of injury concerns. Jasprit Bumrah has been out of action since September because of a stress reaction in his back.

But his recovery had gone satisfactorily, according to the BCCI, which had initially included him in the squad for Sri Lanka ODIs. But he was later ruled out of the ODI series against Sri Lanka on fitness grounds.

Jasprit Bumrah would require three more weeks of rest before he starts bowling at full tilt again, effectively ruling him out of the first half of the Australia Test series, starting on February 9 besides IND vs NZ T20I and ODI series.

Jasprit Bumrah is unlikely to feature in the entire New Zealand limited-overs series and at least the first couple of Test matches in the IND vs AUS series. Jasprit Bumrah was withdrawn from Sri Lanka ODIs on the eve of the series opener Guwahati after the right-arm seamer felt discomfort in his back.

T Natarajan went to Australia in late 2020 as a net bowler with the Indian contingent, but came back as an Indian international, making his debut in all three formats due to regular cricketers being injured. T Natarajan has now played 1 Test, 2 ODIs, and 4 T20Is with a total of 13 wickets in his name. In only his second season in IPL in 2020 at UAE, he picked 16 scalps in 16 games averaging 31.5 for SunRisers Hyderabad.

T Natarajan was ruled out of IPL 2021 after playing just two encounters, due to injury. The southpaw also missed the second leg of IPL 2021 in the UAE due to his knee injury as well. In the second half of the IPL 2021, he was infected with Covid-19, which caused him to miss all of the matches in the UAE. However, he picked 18 scalps in 11 games in IPL 2022. He may be brought back for the IND vs AUS Test series in place of injured Jasprit Bumrah in the first Test.

Umran Malik, the tearaway Indian pacer debuted in ODIs along with left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh in the 3-match ODI series against New Zealand in November 2022. He was added as a last-minute replacement for the injured veteran pacer Mohammed Shami for the Bangladesh ODI series.

In 5 ODIs, the express pacer has picked 7 scalps averaging 28.28 but in 6 T20Is, he has picked 9 scalps averaging 24.22 after debuting against Ireland in June 2022 and after the conclusion of the Sri Lanka T20I series.

His economy rate is 6 in ODIs and 10.9 in T20Is. Kuldeep Sen debuted in the 1st ODI against Bangladesh, but Umran Malik played in the 2nd ODI where he picked 2/58, and the 3rd ODI where he picked 2/43. He may be brought back for the IND vs AUS Test series in place of injured Jasprit Bumrah in the first Test.

Jaydev Unadkat may feature in the IND vs AUS Test series in place of Jasprit Bumrah after picking 3 scalps in the 2nd Test against Bangladesh. It included his maiden Test wicket as he played a Test after a hiatus of 12 years.

Jaydev Unadkat last played a Test for India against South Africa in Centurion in 2010; the left-arm bowler returned wicketless from the game, never to be seen again until December 22, 2022, when he was recalled to the XI in place of Kuldeep Yadav in Dhaka.

Recently, Jaydev Unadkat took three wickets in the opening over of the Ranji Trophy 2022-23 game between Saurashtra and Delhi. At 5 for 6, Delhi was in trouble when Jaydev Unadkat finished his 21st five-wicket haul in the very first over of the game. Jaydev Unadkat claimed six wickets in the opening hour of play, reducing Delhi to 10 for 7 runs.
