Jasprit Bumrah would require three more weeks of rest before he starts bowling at full tilt again, effectively ruling him out of the first half of the Australia Test series, starting on February 9 besides IND vs NZ T20I and ODI series.

T Natarajan went to Australia in late 2020 as a net bowler with the Indian contingent, but came back as an Indian international, making his debut in all three formats due to regular cricketers being injured. T Natarajan has now played 1 Test, 2 ODIs, and 4 T20Is with a total of 13 wickets in his name. In only his second season in IPL in 2020 at UAE, he picked 16 scalps in 16 games averaging 31.5 for SunRisers Hyderabad.

T Natarajan was ruled out of IPL 2021 after playing just two encounters, due to injury. The southpaw also missed the second leg of IPL 2021 in the UAE due to his knee injury as well. In the second half of the IPL 2021, he was infected with Covid-19, which caused him to miss all of the matches in the UAE. However, he picked 18 scalps in 11 games in IPL 2022. He may be brought back for the IND vs AUS Test series in place of injured Jasprit Bumrah in the first Test.
