Former Pakistan National Cricket Team captain Rashid Latif believes that the young left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh should be given the opportunity to represent India National Cricket Team in Test cricket as he has got the ability to become a successful red-ball pacer.

The Punjab pacer made his T20I debut for India in July and ODI debut in November last year. Arshdeep Singh has so far featured in 26 T20Is and 3 ODIs and he is nowhere close to the scheme of things in the longest format of the game.

Previewing India vs Australia contest on the YouTube channel ‘Caught Behind’, Latif said that Arshdeep pitches the ball up and moves it both ways and this ability can help him trouble the batters in red-ball cricket. He said:

“I feel Arshdeep Singh should play the Test format. He pitches the ball up and gets it to swing as well. When he came into the T20I squad, I spotted that his release is really good and he moves the ball both ways. He can trouble batters in this format.”

Arshdeep Singh Is The Next Bowling Superstar, Feels Anil Kumble

Recently, during a discussion on JioCinema, legendary India National Cricket Team leg-spinner Anil Kumble showered praise on the left-arm seamer Arshdeep and labelled him as the next bowling superstar in Indian cricket. He said:

“Having worked closely with someone like Arshdeep, it’s wonderful to see him grow into what he’s done for India. I would look at Arshdeep as the next superstar bowler coming through.”

The 23-year-old has bagged 41 wickets in 20-over cricket for India at an average of 17.78, an economy of 8.39 and a strike rate of 12.7. In 50-over cricket, the pacer is yet to bag a wicket.
