Sridharan Sharath, a member of the BCCI’s five-member national selection panel, has finally spoken out about Sarfaraz’s continued absence from the team.
Sarfaraz Khan, who has been a steady performer for Mumbai in domestic cricket, was not selected for the first two Tests against Australia.

Next month, Team India will play its first Test match since their hiatus when they play a four-match series against the formidable Australians. It will be India’s penultimate series in the World Test Championship cycle; the team is second in the standings and well-positioned for a spot in the championship game, where it will probably face Australia again in June.
Last week, the selection for the first two Tests of the series was revealed, and star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja made his long-awaited return. The squad did lack Sarfaraz Khan, though, which was a notable omission. With a string of outstanding performances in domestic cricket, the Mumbai batter is making a strong case for Indian selection.

“Sarfaraz Khan is certainly on our radar”: BCCI Selector
One of the five people on the BCCI’s national selection panel, Sridharan Sharath, has now spoken out over Sarfaraz’s ongoing absence from the team. He said that although the 25-year-old is still a candidate for selection, “team composition” is a top concern for the decision-makers.
“He is certainly on our radar. In due course, he will get his due. While picking the team, we have to consider things like composition and balance,” Sharath told Sportstar.
