Wasim Jaffer, a former Indian opener who does not frequently play for India, has praised Kuldeep Yadav for his “remarkable consistency” and backed the 28-year-old to keep playing well in the forthcoming T20I series against New Zealand.

The wrist-spinner played in the ODIs against Sri Lanka and then three more against New Zealand. He has done an excellent job in his assigned duty. In those games, he has taken out 11 opponents and has been crucial to both series victories.

Wasim Jaffer discussed Yadav’s contributions to India’s triumphs and his capacity to secure breakthroughs when the team most needs them on ESPN Cricinfo’s Timeout.

“When using wrist spinners, it occurs. They take wickets when they are in good form and when the ball comes out of their hands nicely “explained Wasim Jaffer. “He demonstrated his ability in the most recent two series by taking significant wickets and providing crucial breakthroughs. Thus, he is capable of that.”

Since the fifth match of a five-match series against the West Indies in Lauderhill in August 2022, the bowler from Kanpur hasn’t participated in a T20I. In spite of this, Yadav has remarkable T20I statistics, taking 44 wickets in 25 games, including a fifer.

“He wasn’t given the chance earlier”: Wasim Jaffer

Wasim Jaffer shared the leggie’s disappointment at not receiving a regular run in the team.

“He wasn’t given the chance earlier.   The management has given him a steady run because Axar Patel isn’t there. He participates in a match, is benched, then returns, plays, then is benched once more. Therefore, it’s difficult for any player, “explained Wasim Jaffer.

Jaffer, though, predicted that Yadav would succeed against New Zealand. stating that he also anticipates the spinner being chosen for Australia’s trip to India later in the month.

“But he has shown remarkable consistency and I won’t be surprised if he does well in this series. I expect him to get a chance against Australia as well,” he concluded.

New Zealand is getting ready to take on the Indian team in a three-match T20I series after suffering a series loss in the ODIs. Since the Kiwis have yet to defeat India in a T20I series played in India, this is a crucial series for the major team.
