Cameron Green, a star all-rounder for Australia, has replied to questions about his condition by promising to give it his best to be ready for the first Test of the widely anticipated Border-Gavaskar series versus India next month. In the Boxing Day Test against South Africa last month, Green fractured a finger in his right hand while batting. The 23-year-old only just underwent surgery on the injured region.

Ahead of a hectic impending schedule, the breakout star of Australian cricket is missing out the current third and final Test of the home season against South Africa in Sydney.  Green is not just focused on the series versus India that begins on February 9; he also plans to participate in his maiden IPL match after being recently acquired by the Mumbai Indians for a remarkable sum.

Cameron Green Debunks Fake News On Him Being 100% Fit For IPL

While talking to Perth radio station SEN Sportsday WA on Thursday, the Australian debunked recent Indian media reports that Green might only be utilized as a batter during the IPL.

Green responded when questioned if he wouldn’t be allowed to bowl in the IPL, “No, that’s not correct.”

“I’ve heard about this for a quite a while now…I don’t know where it’s come from. I’ve heard that I’m 100 percent available for both skill sets in the IPL at the start, so yeah, I’m not too sure where that’s kind of come from.”

The IPL is wedged between a Test series in India, a likely ICC World Test Championship final, and an Ashes series in England in the midst of the year. Despite this, Green stated he will make every effort to return to play as soon as possible during his recuperation.

Test Series First Priority For Cameron Green

After suffering a finger injury against the Proteas, seasoned fast Mitchell Starc is sitting in the same recovery room as Green. Both players are concentrating on healing their bodies.

“Obviously my first priority is the Test Series that’s beforehand,” Green stated when inquired about the start of the IPL at the end of March.

“I think me and Starcy (Starc) are maybe touch and go for that first one (Test against India) but obviously we’ll give ourselves the best chance.”
