The Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has resumed playing competitive cricket after a five-month absence due to knee surgery. In his first competitive match following surgery, the 34-year-old player pulled up a seven-wicket haul while representing Saurashtra against Tamil Nadu in the current Ranji Trophy round.

The Indian cricket squad, which is getting ready for the forthcoming Border-Gavaskar series against Australia, would benefit greatly from Jadeja’s comeback. Since playing eight home Tests against Australia, the left-arm spinner has amassed a total of 49 wickets, making him an important weapon for India.

Hopefully, I am good to go now. It was tough on the first day but as the game progressed, I was feeling good,” he said.

In his eight home Test matches against Australia, left-arm spinner Jadeja has taken 49 wickets, making him an important weapon for India in the past.

I Was Keen To Bowl A Long Spell: Ravindra Jadeja

After the Ranji Trophy match, Jadeja will return to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for an evaluation.
The all-41.1 rounder’s overs bowled in his combined two innings against Tamil Nadu bode well for him.

“I (am) used to bowling long spells. Nothing new for me. I was enjoying…ball was turning…the pitch was assisting me. When we were batting, the odd ball was spinning, the odd ball was keeping low, so I was keen to bowl a long spell. Luckily I got wickets,” he said.

“Yes, I am almost there (in terms of full fitness). It is just a matter of a little bit of confidence. Luckily I bowled enough overs in the match, like almost 37 overs in the game. When you get seven wickets, obviously you feel confident. When you take a five-for in a first-class game it is always good,” added the 34-year-old.
