IND vs AUS: India Desperately Needs Him In ICC Tournaments: Dinesh Karthik Fires Warning To Indian Team Management

Dinesh Karthik thinks that Team India should stick with Rahul Tripathi as their No. 3 batsman in T20Is till veteran batter Virat Kohli returns.

During a Cricbuzz conversation, Karthik mentioned that the Men in Blue need someone like Tripathi on their side in important ICC events.

He praised the right-handed batsman for his selfless approach and emphasized how crucial it is to give him a long rope moving ahead.

Karthik elaborated on Tripathi’s powerful performances as follows: “Rahul Tripathi is deserving of the No. 3 slot in the Indian team, whenever it becomes available. It’s fine if Virat Kohli wants to play”

“If Kohli is unavailable, Tripathi should be the first choice over anyone else who has performed well elsewhere. He is a really good player who is doing something very unselfish, which India desperately needs as it enters ICC competitions,” Dinesh Karthik added.

The explosive batsman destroyed the Kiwi bowlers by scoring 44 runs off only 22 balls during the decisive T20I series match on February 1 in Ahmedabad.

Dinesh Karthik continued by stating that considering the fact that Rahul Tripathi has only appeared in cameos thus far, it’s possible that he would be passed over in favor of others.

But Dinesh Karthik highlighted that it was important to remember the difference Tripathi was able to make when he appeared. Karthik commended the batsman for launching an early attack despite being aware that his career was on the line.

“The names replacing Rahul Tripathi will be big at some point in time. So we might just look at the scores and say he just scored the 30s and 40s. Let’s be very, very aware of the situation he’s done it in and the intent and context of every time he’s walked in.”

Only five T20I games have Tripathi participated in thus far in his career. His outstanding strike rate of 144.8 has earned him 97 runs. In 74 innings in the Indian Premier League (IPL), he scored 1798 runs, demonstrating his consistency as a player.
