IND vs AUS: It's Disappointing To See Such A Breakdown Of Confidence Between Cricket's Nations: Ian Healy On The No-Tour Game

The legendary Australian wicketkeeper Ian Healy finds it distressing to witness the breakdown of international trust, which he believes is to blame for the Test team’s lack of a tour game prior to their four-match series against India, which will begin on February 9 in Nagpur.
Since their tour of Pakistan last year, Australia has maintained a no-tour match policy, which they will retain for their crucial Test tour to India, which will be played for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Before the four-test Border-Gavaskar series, Australia will not play a single tour match. One of the team members, Usman Khawaja, recently stated that there was no use in playing practice matches because the wickets prepared for tour fixtures and genuine games in India were highly different.
“Have you ever been pre-tour with us (Australia)? They can be spinning wickets when we play but we go to the practice matches and they are green Gabba-like wickets out there (in India), so what’s the point,” Khawaja had said during a press conference earlier this month.

“We’ve gathered our spinners in Sydney for strategic talks”: Ian Healy
Khawaja’s idea was supported by Ian Healy, who thought it was a good idea to gather the touring party spinners in Sydney before the visit to get them used to replica India pitches.
“We’ve gathered our spinners in Sydney for strategic talks (on replica India surfaces)… we no longer trust that the requested facilities will be provided for a nation,” Ian Healy said on SEN Radio on Monday.
“Our focus in cricket has gone from creating opportunities and experiences for our greatest young cricketers… now we deny touring teams quality preparation before extremely high-profile series, and I don’t like it.”It’s disappointing to watch the such dismantling of trust between cricket’s nations and it needs to stop,” Ian Healy added.
A spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) final, which will take place in June 2023, is on the line in India’s series against Australia.
