Team India ended the year 2022 on a high note by defeating Bangladesh in a two-match Test series and maintaining their chances of making the World Test Championship (WTC) final. The Rohit Sharma-led team didn’t have a fantastic year overall in the longest format of the game, and now they’ll need to be at the top of their game when they take on the No. 1 team in the world, Australia, in their final match of the 2021–23 cycle.
Australia will be coming off two straight series victories at home and will have secured a spot in the WTC final, but India will still need to be on guard against them despite playing in familiar surroundings.

In order to counter the batting prowess of Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, and company, India will need the spin combination of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel to be effective. Jadeja, though, has been out of the Indian lineup for the past four months owing to a knee ailment.
Ravindra Jadeja has been selected for the Test matches, subject to his fitness:
Jadeja did not travel to Bangladesh and will not play in the home series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand. Ravindra Jadeja, who has been out with a knee injury since the Asia Cup in September, has been selected for the Test matches, subject to his fitness.
“Jadeja has been asked to play at least one domestic game. If he is indeed fit then it will solve the problem of having a left-hander in the middle order and India can play five bowlers,” the source said.
The outcome of the Tests in Australia will have a significant impact on India’s qualification for the World Test Championships.
