Steve O’Keefe reckons the current Australian team is better positioned to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Due to their strong batting lineup and ability to effectively handle spin.

Early in 2017, Australia came within a whisker of winning a historic series in India after taking the first Test in Pune to take a 1-0 lead. They did, however, drop two of the following three Tests and give up the series.

Former Australian cricketers have made numerous predictions in favor of Cummins and the company as the big event approaches. Former Australian spinner Steve O’Keefe is the most recent player to make the same remark. In an interview with Australian media, he supported the players who had already been in India to do really well in the series.

“I’m so bullish about this team. A lot of those guys who are part of that (2017) experience would have learned so much from that. At times we got close, and the next time becomes a little bit easier” Steve O’Keefe said.

“I believe that will be the case this time. We’ll be bringing a good hitting lineup that can play spin. We’ve already seen that Marnus Labuschagne is a good spinner. Cameron Green is outstanding, so I believe this group is strong,” Steve O’Keefe added.

“It’s really interesting over there, you’ve just had to get ahead of the game, and it’s very hard to get ahead in India. But here’s the catch. They very rarely give you a chance. And when you can smell it, you have to take advantage of it. “You have to find a method to speed the game so that you’re so far ahead of them that they’re coming from a long way behind,” Steve O’Keefe continued.

The key batsman for Australia will likely be Steve Smith, who averages 60 in Test matches in India. Nathan Lyon will likely be a crucial component of their bowling lineup. On February 9 in Nagpur, the first Test match versus India will begin.
