Many believe that the 23-year-old is the star of Indian cricket in the future, but Chopra disagrees. According to Sportskeeda, the former opener stated on his YouTube channel that Gill is the “present” of the Indian squad.
“Previously, we would say that Shubman Gill represented the presence of Indian cricket; now, we say that he represents the future. When he travelled to compete in the Under-19 World Cup, his potential was apparent. He began to play well and requested that others observe him because he has something special,” Aakash Chopra said.

“Shubman Gill has regularly played well”: Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra, a former Indian opener, admitted that he had some reservations when the youngster made his Test debut on Boxing Day but added that he was proven to be mistaken.
“I was about fifty-fifty when he made his Test debut. I was thinking about how the guy was going to make his debut at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. He also batted really well there and hasn’t looked back since. He has consistently performed admirably. There will be some ups and downs, but he has been excellent.”
Shubman Gill has been in excellent form lately, scoring a double hundred in an ODI and recently hitting his first century in a T20I against New Zealand. Along the process, he has broken a lot of other records as well.
