Veteran Australian spinner Nathan Lyon said that he wants his side to win 3-0 against Pakistan in the Test series. Australia is scheduled to play three Tests, as many ODIs and a solitary T20I match in Pakistan with the tour starting on March 4.
Australia will come fresh in the Test series with a 4-0 Ashes triumphant against England at home. The Australian team’s visit will end their 24 years of absence from playing in Pakistan as the last time the five-time World Cup winners toured the Asian nation was back in 1998.
We will look to win, not draw or lose: Nathan Lyon
Lyon, who has 33 Test scalps against Pakistan from nine Tests, said he wants Australia to whitewash the home side in the three-match Test series. The 34-year-old off-spinner also said that Australian players are proud to end the long wait and visit Pakistan to delight their fans.

“My mindset is every game we go into, we will look to win, not draw or lose. My mindset is to win 3-0 in Pakistan. Pakistan haven’t had the opportunity to have a lot of international cricket here over a number of years so to be able to be the first Australian team to come here to play … It’s a pretty proud moment,” Lyon said in a press conference.
“We’ve spoken as a group about how big it is for the people of Pakistan to see the likes of Steve Smith, David Warner, Pat Cummins and Marnus Labuschagne … these guys are proud to come out here and play to be role models,” he added.
My role is going to change across the Test matches: Nathan Lyon
In the Ashes 2021, Lyon completed the feat of 400 Test wickets in the first match in Brisbane. The New South Wales bowler revealed his plans to attack the opposition whenever he finds an opportunity and spoke about his role in the upcoming Test series.
“My role is going to change across the Test matches. There’s going to be times where I’ll be in a holding role … where there is opportunity for me to be more attacking I will,” Lyon said.

“All bowlers in our squad are well prepared to play whatever role it takes to perform well. It’s going to be challenging but we’ve got the squad to cover all areas,” he added.
The first Test between Pakistan and Australia will be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, the match starts on Friday (March 4).
