Dinesh Chandimal of Sri Lanka was the star of the show as hosts Sri Lanka accomplished an incredible comeback victory over Australia. Sri Lanka levelled the series 1-1 after losing the opening game by a humiliating margin of 10 wickets in three days.

The hosts won the second and final Test match of the series by an innings and 39 runs at the Galle International Cricket Stadium. The highlight of the game for the home side was debutant Prabath Jayasuriya, who bowled an amazing display of spin-bowling that confused the Australian batters in both innings.

In his first appearance for the national side, the 30-year-old grabbed six wickets in each innings, and his stats of 12-177 are the best ever by a Sri Lankan on Test debut.

Chandimal had reached his double-ton after blasting a boundary and two successive sixes off the bowling of express bowler Starc. The 32-year-old was compelled to use this tactic due to a lack of partners on the opposite end.

While the series concluded in a 1-1 tie, the match gained international interest since it occurred in the midst of Sri Lankan public protests against their government. Protesters had congregated in front of the Galle Fort, which overlooks the picturesque stadium.
