The 6th match of the BBL 2021-22 will have Melbourne Renegades take on Adelaide Strikers at Adelaide Oval Ground on Thursday. Notably, this is the second time when both these two sides will take on each other in the competition.

They have already played a game against each other on Tuesday. Melbourne Renegades batted first and posted a competitive 153-run total in the first innings. Sam Harper and Mackenzie Harvey gave the team the perfect start with the bat.

The duo added 65 runs in 53 balls before Short sent Harper back to the pavilion for a well-made 33 off 28. His partner, Mackenzie Harvey, however, carried on and went on to score a half-century. James Seymour later also contributed 23 off 14. However, once both these two batsmen got out, wickets fell in a cluster. In the last 15 deliveries, the Renegades managed only 11 runs for the loss of 6 wickets.

For Adelaide Strikers, George Garton (2 for 23) and Worrall (2 for 26) were brilliant. Skipper, Peter Siddle proved expensive but picked 3 wickets as well. Rashid Khan picked 1 for 30.

Much like Renegades, Adelaide Strikers too made a brilliant start with the bat. Mathew Short and Jake Weatherland gave a powerful start, adding 45 runs inside the powerplay. Unfortunately, Short (29 off 18) got out on the last ball of the powerplay. Jake Weatherland (29 off 18), Harry Nielsen (30 off 30) were guilty of not converting the start into a big score as the match went down the wire.

It was Daniel Drew, who kept Adelaide’s hopes alive with an unbeaten 23 off 20. It eventually came down to 9 runs needed off 6 deliveries with Pattinson bowling the final over. With 4 needed on the last ball, only 2 runs could be scored which meant the Renegades won by 2 runs. Afghanistan Chinaman, Zahir Khan bowled an impressive first spell for Melbourne as he picked 3 for 24 in 4 overs. Experienced campaigners, Kane Richardson (1 for 24) and James Pattinson (1 for 27) also bowled pretty well.

Melbourne Renegades are pretty exciting Australian youngsters in the line-up and also has a few world-class bowlers in the line-up. They put on an impressive performance in the first game against Adelaide and we expect them to beat again on Thursday.
