St Kitts & Nevis Patriots player Mikyle Louis has been removed from CPL 2021 tournament for breaching bio-bubble protocols. The organizers of the Caribbean Premier League informed about the news in an official statement. West Indies cricketer Mikyle Louis left the team hotel without taking permission or advice from the organizers.
Mikyle Louis left the hotel after learning about some tragic news related to one of his friends. CPL 2021 is being played under bio-bubble, for the safety of players and support staff members against covid-19. Under the Covid protocols, players have to undergo mandatory quarantine and avoid outside contacts.
Moreover, players also go through regular covid tests. The spectators are also not allowed inside the stadiums and the matches are played under closed doors.

CPL 2021 operations director said that they are sympathetic about the situation that forced Mikyle Louis to leave the hotel bubble, but they cannot compromise with the tournament’s bio-bubble protocols.
“Following the receipt of some tragic news about a close friend, the player took the unfortunate and ill-advised decision to leave the hotel bubble without permission. While the league is sympathetic about the circumstances which led to the player’s decision, it cannot allow the integrity of its Covid-secure bubble to be compromised,” CPL 2021 Tournament Operations Director Michael Hall said.
The bio-bubble protocol for CPL 2021 states that people who break the rules will be expelled from the tournament.
“The tournament bubble will be maintained for the entire duration of the tournament and no one from outside the bubble will be allowed in at any of the bubble locations. Conversely, no one from inside the bubble will be allowed out of the main bubble areas. Persons who break these rules will be expelled from the tournament – no exceptions,” the CPL 2021 protocols says.
Caribbean Premier League 2021 is the 9th edition of the tournament, which is a franchise T20 league of West Indies. CPL 2021 commenced on August 26. The tournament is slated to witness the final on September 15. Currently, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots hold the top spot in the points table among 6 teams with 6 points. Patriots have won all the 3 matches they played in the tournament so far.
