PSL 2024 match 13 between Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi will be played on Monday, February 27. The match starts at 7.30 pm IST. This is the first meeting between the two sides in this edition. Both are previous winners of the PSL title. In the last five games, Peshawar has won three games while Islamabad two.

The PSL 2024 season will be played across four venues. Lahore will host nine games, Multan five games, Rawalpindi 8 matches, and Karachi 12 games including 8 league games and four knockout games. The final will also be played in Karachi on March 18.

The former champions have played just three games this season till now, the least amongst all the teams. The next game will be their fourth, an opportunity to move up the table. They won against Lahore Qalandars in the first game.

Peshawar Zalmi

Peshawar will be led by Babar Azam who joined them in 2023. He led them to the knockouts last season winning five and losing five games. He is the leading run-getter in the tournament inching closer to 3500 runs. Peshawar Zalmi lost their two opening games against Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings.

They won their next two against Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars. Against Lahore, Peshawar managed to defend 211 despite Rassie Van der Dussen’s unbeaten ton for the defending champions. Babar is the third-highest run-getter in the season so far with 219 runs at an average of 54.75.

Key Factors

Pitch Conditions

The pitch at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore has been flat as a tank. Several 200-plus totals have been posted and chased down successfully in the season so far.

However, despite batting-friendly conditions, chasing a 200-plus total by teams batting second has proved tricky. The pitches so far have nothing for the fast bowlers. Two of the top five wicket-takers in the tournament so far are spinners.

Form and fitness

There has been no reports of any injury concerns from both teams. However, Alex Hales will not be available for personal reasons in the next match against Peshawar Zalmi.

The entire Islamabad batting lineup needs to find some firm. They are the only team to not post a substantial score with the bat. In the last two games, they have posted 144 and 138 batting first.

Tactical Acumen

Babar Azam and Shabad Khan are former captains and vice-captains of the Pakistan national cricket team. They have plenty of experience of playing together and knowing exactly how each other thinks. Shadab was the go-to man for Babar while being the skipper of the Pakistan national team. After two back-to-back losses, Islamabad will be under pressure.
