The year 2023 witnessed many exciting ODI matches across top international teams. ICC ODI World Cup 2023 observed how India dominated many opponents on home turf. Later, Australia outplayed them in the final to register a surprising victory.
During the ODI World Cup, there were a few upsets too. Afghanistan crushed giants like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and England. The Netherlands outplayed South Africa to result in another shocking result. Flop ODI XI of 2023
Tamim Iqbal
Former Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal could not impress with his batting in 2023. He announced his retirement in 2023, just before the ODI World Cup. He played 12 games and could only score 283 runs averaging 28.30. The left-handed batsman scored a fifty in just one game.
Ruturaj Gaikwad
Ruturaj Gaikwad gave some brilliant batting performances in T20Is recently. However, the right-handed batsman failed to make a mark in ODIs. He played 5 games in which he could only score 96 runs, with a top knock of 71 in one match. He held a poor average of 19.20.
Liam Livingstone
England gave a poor show in the ICC World Cup 2023. Liam Livingstone was one player who failed to come up with good shows in ODIs. He played 13 matches for the team and hit 308 runs averaging 28.0. He scored half-centuries in two games but got out for low scores in other matches.
Suryakumar Yadav
Suryakumar Yadav gave some stunning performances in T20Is in 2023. However, the right-handed batsman was a big flop in ODIs. Notably, Yadav consistently failed in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, where he struggled to score runs for the team. At a poor average of 21.61, the Yadav mustered 389 runs in 21 matches. Mohammad Nabi
Afghanistan showed a wonderful form in ICC World Cup 2023 but Mohammad Nabi could not grab the limelight this year. The all-rounder played 20 matches in 2023. He scored 240 runs averaging 17.14 and failed to score any fifty. With the ball, he grabbed 18 wickets across 20 matches.
Alex Carey (WK)
Australia wicketkeeper Alex Carey played 10 ODI games in 2023. He hit 185 runs averaging 20.55. Carey scored just 1 fifty. In the World Cup, he was dropped after the first game. Later, Josh Inglis played for Australia throughout the tournament.

Mohammad Nawaz
Pakistan spinner Mohammad Nawaz executed flop performances in 2023. Across 15 matches, he got just 11 wickets at a high average of 55.63. Nawaz was also expensive at his economy of 5.36. His poor show cost Pakistan in the World Cup too, where they struggled to find a reliable spinner in the squad.
Hasan Ali
