The Indian Premier League (IPL) event has been completed with all franchises naming their retention list. The released list from the eight franchises included both Indian and overseas players. About INR 269 crores were spent in purchasing 27 players, out of which 19 are Indians and the rest are foreigners.

Highlights of the IPL Franchises List

The franchises retain most veteran players but some have been released. The released players would return to the auction pool and before the auction, the two new teams would have the opportunity to purchase three players each. Out of the released players, four have been earmarked to likely become the most expensive players to be released into the pool.

Whatever the outcome of the auction, the fans would have an interesting year ahead watching their favourite teams and players contenting in the Premier League. If you are a sports favourite, you can find all about your favourite teams and how to bet on their activities on top rated sites. So, who are the players that are likely to be the costliest among the released players?

David Warner was excluded from the retention list of Sunrisers Hyderabad. This means he will no longer play for the team from next season. He is back in the pool for the mega auction where one of the two new franchises may buy him.

He is likely to become the most expensive player in the history of the IPL because he is one of the most destructive batsmen in the latest era.

  • KL Rahul

Although Punjab Kings wanted KL Rahul to play as the captain for the coming year, the Indian opener was not interested in playing for the franchise. Therefore, the team had to release him, throwing him into the auction pool.

Without a doubt, all franchises are likely to have an eye on him, which will make him highly expensive in the coming auction. Thanks to his leadership skills and the form he is currently in, KL Rahul is likely to become one of the most expensive players in the history of IPL.

Rashid Khan was one of the top players in Sunrisers Hyderabad but he had to be released even though the team wanted to retain him. Khan wanted to be the first retention but the franchise gave Kane Williamson the 15 crore contract, keeping Rashid Khan in the second retention position with 11 crores.

The franchise had to release him and he is currently in the pool. Rashid is undoubtedly the best bowler, which would translate into him being one of the most expensive players in the pool.

Ishan Kishan is undoubtedly a destructive opening batsman and he has consistently made waves within the past few years. His exploits have found him in the squad in India’s 2021 T20 World Cup, which makes him a top consideration for most franchises in the coming auction. Certainly, most franchises would not hesitate to spend more than they ordinarily would just to have him.

Conclusion

These are the top released players worth looking for in the upcoming IPL auction. Without a doubt, they would be four of the most expensive players in the auction.
