PBKS opener Prabhsimran Singh has caused a brain fade in the Delhi Capitals dugout after they received some hammering from both the openers, who were two men coming out with a mission.
After some staggering batting shows from the Delhi Capitals batters, the Punjab Kings openers have truly given it back to the DC bowlers in the powerplay itself. After the start, the way KL Rahul and Nitish Rana managed to put on 160+ runs in the last ten overs, the Kings' batters have scored at a run rate of over 19 within the powerplay.
Prabhsimran Singh destroys Mukesh Kumar with six fours in an over
The Punjab Kings opener Prabhsimran Singh did the trick for the Kings alongside Priyansh Arya as they added 116 runs in the powerplay. After a solid start to the innings, Natarajan bowled a perfect 5th over and restrained the hitting spree.
Mukesh Kumar returned to bowl the final over of the powerplay, and Prabhsimran unleashed his beast mode, taking him for 24 runs off the final over. He hit six different shots against the pacer and did not think twice while countering his pace or swing.
This will be the first time that any Indian batter has managed to hit seven fours on the trot, as he continued his onslaught in the next over as well, hitting Axar Patel for another boundary off the seventh ball he faced.
Kuldeep Yadav bring back DC into the game with a double-strike against PBKS
After the spectacular start from the PBKS openers, the Delhi Capitals need breakthroughs in a row. However, with the skipper returning with the wicket of Priyansh Arya just after the powerplay, Kuldeep was introduced at the right time.
Kuldeep picked Prabhsimran as his bowl kept low and got slower as it landed on the pitch, which went on to trap Prabhsimran right at the front of the three stumps. The striking opener was back in the dugout.
Kuldeep's second over produced another wonder as in-form batter Cooper Connolly was lost in the flight as he cleaned him up with a tossed-up wrong one that left the left-hander baffled and went through his defense.
Not Dusmantha Chameera but Vipraj Nigam has been drafted as Ngidi's substitute
After Lungi Ngidi was taken out on a stretcher, it was certain that he was not to return for this game. Hence, Delhi had no choice but to make a switch with a concussion substitute. They bought in Dusmantha Chameera in that over but soon called him off.
Later, Vipraj Nigam was announced as the concussion substitute for the South African pacer, after the Indian spin duo for the Capitals picked three wickets after the powerplay. With Australian batter Marcus Stoinis to come lower down the order, a third spinner would be handy, as per the DC management.
Vipraj bowled his first over in the 11th over of the game, and it was the over that got Shreyas Iyer, the PBKS star, going.
