5 Indian Cricketers Who Were Injured In Road Accidents.  Indian cricket team’s wicketkeeper and batsman Rishabh Pant met with an accident after his car hit the divider near Mangalore police station in Roorkee on Friday morning.

Rishabh Pant suffered injuries in his leg and head and is being moved to a private hospital in Dehradun for treatment. Rishabh Pant’s Mercedes Benz car hit the divider and caught fire. The accident took place around 5:30 am.

West Indian cricketer Runako Morton died in a road accident on in March of 2012. Runako Morton, who was 33 at the time of death, crashed into a utility pole on the Solomon Hochoy Highway in Chase Village in central Trinidad. On March 24, 2002, Ben Hollioake’s car slipped off the road and crashed into a low wall, killing him instantly.

Andrew Symonds who played 198 one-day internationals for Australia and won two World Cups died after a single-vehicle auto accident near Townsville in northeast Australia in May 2022. He was 46 at the time of his death.

Manjural Islam Rana died in a road accident on 16 March 2007 while the Bangladesh cricket team was in the Caribbean to play in the 2007 Cricket World Cup. His motorcycle smashed into a mini bus and then hit an electrical pole at the roadside.

Former West Indies fast bowler Ezra Moseley died at the age of 63. He played two Tests and nine One Day Internationals from 1990 to 1991. He took 13 wickets for West Indies and also had 279 first-class scalps to his name. Ezra Moseley died in an accident in Barbados on February 6, 2021.

Several Indian cricketers have also been injured in road accidents. A few had luckily escaped unhurt. In what could have been a fatal head-on collision, a last-minute scream from the legendary former batter ex-captain Sunil Gavaskar alerted a drowsy driver who managed to turn the car before impact with another.

The cricketer had a narrow escape on August 2014 when his car crashed into another vehicle while he was traveling from Manchester to London. The driver at the wheel of the Jaguar had reportedly dozed off and woke when Sunil Gavaskar screamed moments before the crash.

Star Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant met with a serious road accident on Friday morning (December 30) when he was returning to Delhi from Uttarakhand. According to the latest update, his car met with an accident on the Narsan border of Roorkee near Hammadpur Jhal on Friday morning.

His car hit a divider, and it caught fire after the collision. As per reports and several pictures that have surfaced online, he has suffered multiple burn injuries, but his condition is stable, and the 25-year-old cricketer is out of danger.

In March 2018, Mohammed Shami was injured in a car accident while traveling from Dehradun to New Delhi. He sustained minor head injuries and some stitches on top of his right eye. The wrecked front and right sides of his car could not comprehend the magnitude of the collision. The accident happened during the phase when pacer Mohammed Shami was having a dispute with his wife, Hasin Jahan.

Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi lost his right eye in a car accident at the age of 20. However, he kept playing cricket while sporting a glass eye and even captained India at the international level. He played 46 Test matches, scoring 2793 runs at an average of 34.91, with six centuries.

Under Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi’s leadership, India won nine matches out of 40, and 19 ended in a draw. He played his last Test in 1975 against West Indies at home. Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi breathed his last on 22 September 2011.

Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi’, who would go on to captain India, met with an accident while returning home during Oxford’s game against Sussex on July 1, 1961. The car he was traveling in met with a head-on collision with another vehicle. Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi was taken to hospital. It was discovered that he had badly injured his right eye, so much so that he would lose vision in that eye. A splinter had passed from the windscreen and entered the eye.

The former India spinner Sairaj Bahutule had an extremely lucky escape at 17 when the car he was seated in met with an accident at Marine Drive. One of Sairaj Bahutule’s friends succumbed to injuries while another sustained severe injuries on July 28, 1990. He had a steel rod inserted in his right leg but recovered to get on with cricket a year later.

At 17 years and 341 days, Dhruv Pandove had become the youngest player to score over 1000 runs in the Ranji Trophy, underlining the future that lay ahead of the Punjab boy. But his journey was cut short cruelly when the car he was traveling in en route to his hometown Patiala met with a fatal accident after leaving Ambala in 1992.
