Former India batsman Yusuf Pathan, on Friday (July 28), showed that age is just a number as he played a whirlwind knock for Joburg Buffaloes against Durban Qalandars in the first Qualifier of the ongoing Zim Afro T10.
Rolling back the clock, Yusuf Pathan smashed an unbeaten 80 runs off just 26 balls. His whirlwind knock was studded with four sixes and as many as nine sixes. Asked to bat first, the Qalandars piled up 140 for 4 in the allotted 10 overs.

Andre Fletcher top-scored for the Qalandars, smashing 39 off just 14 balls. Asif Ali and Nick Welch then shared an unbeaten stand of 62 runs off just 20 balls to take the Durban-based outfit to a big total. Ali remained unbeaten on 32 off just 12 balls while Welch scored 24 off 9 balls.

In reply, the Buffaloes chased down the total with a ball remaining thanks to Yusuf Pathan’s knock. They were reeling at 57 for 4 in the 6th over and were firmly on the backfoot before Yusuf Pathan decided to turn things around in spectacular fashion. The former India allrounder single-handedly blew the Qalandars away to book a place in the final for his side.

One of the highlights of Yusuf Pathan’s innings was his duel against Mohammad Amir. When the former Pakistan pace spearhead came to bowl the eighth over, Yusuf Pathan was batting on 19 runs off 12 balls. And when the over ended, he had raced away to 43 runs.
The World Cup-winning batsman smashed Amir for 25 runs that included a wide. He hit the first two balls of the over for a six before Amir bowled a dot. It was followed by another six and a wide before Yusuf Pathan took a double and a four to end the over.
