This could have been the turning point of the ongoing Lucknow Super Giants vs Chennai Super Kings (LSG vs CSK) IPL 2026 match at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana International Cricket Stadium.
During the run chase, in the second innings, the LSG opener, Mitchell Marsh, unleashed himself against the CSK pacer Anshul Kamboj. From one single over of Kamboj, the Australian star batter claimed a staggering number of 28 runs.

Marsh missed his century by only a few runs
Mitchell Marsh continued the same intensity for the next few overs as well. He deserved to claim a century, but missed it only by 10 runs as Mukesh Choudhary dismissed him through a runout. Marsh's 90-run knock was from 38 balls only. In this course, the opener of the Lucknow Super Giants hammered nine 4s and seven 6s. When he was dismissed, along with those 90 runs, he carried a strike rate of 236.84 as well.
The innings played by Marsh showed his class and tenacity. The pitch was not easy to bat on. In the previous games on this ground, a lot of batters had to struggle. In this match, when CSK was batting, most of their batters find in hard to tackle the bowlers.
The surface was not easy for the batters
Before the toss, former cricketer, now a cricket expert and commentator, Ian Bishop informed that there were some patches on the track, for which the ball could be kept low, and could turn as well.
"Well, what I'm seeing really is that this pitch also is likely to be what we find earlier in the two matches, where there won't be too many runs being scored because when you have a look at the surface, as you go, there's no grass cover whatsoever, but there are patches over here which seem to be, maybe bowlers footmarks and the rough created sometimes by even the batters running on it. And that is the reason why I have a feeling, when the ball pitches over there, it might keep low or it might behave awkwardly,' Ian Bishop said this from the pitch side.
