Former Indian batsman Aakash Chopra opined that Ravichandran Ashwin might miss out again on the playing XI for the third Test at Headingly with India opting for four quicks. India has so far enjoyed the combination of one spinner and 4 fast bowlers and it has paid off well with a famous win at the Lord’s.
R Ashwin was expected to make the cut into the playing XI in the Lord’s Test but India still went in with Ishant Sharma in place of bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur. Also, the Indian lower-order batsmen have shown lots of progress in their batting department which has made things easy for the captain.

Aakash Chopra Feels Ashwin Had An Opportunity at Lord’s
Aakash Chopra reckoned that Ashwin is unlikely to get into the playing XI for the Headingly Test unless there are a lot of injury concerns and felt that India will stick their combination of all-rounder Jadeja and four fast bowlers. He added that Ashwin could have come into the side for the Lord’s Test as the pitch was a little dry.
“Not at Headingley. I don’t see R Ashwin playing in the next encounter. But then there is still some time to go, there might be injuries and all of that but I don’t think India will go with the combination of two spinners and three fast bowlers.”
Lord’s was a good opportunity where you could have played two spinners. Pitch was also dry, the Hundred was also being played. But up north – Headingly, Leeds – where do you need spinners that much.” Aakash Chopra told on his Youtube Channel

Aakash Chopra Heaps Praise On The Fast Bowling Unit
Aakash Chopra credited the Indian fast bowling unit for delivering 40 wickets in the four innings already and it has been a treat to watch for every Indian fan. He added about India not missing Jadeja in the bowling department and that is the effect of the resources available to India.
The sort of success, let’s be honest, this fast-bowling quartet has worked in a decimating fashion and is instilling fear. So much so that Jadeja has not even taken a single wicket, you have taken 40 wickets in four innings, and you are still not missing wickets from a spinner.” He added

All the fast bowlers from the Indian side have contributed equally to the success of the side and that is one of the standouts.
