Abdul Rehman To Be Multan Sultans' New Head Coach, Will Replace Andy Flower In The Upcoming Season Of Pakistan Super League

Abdul Rehman to take over as the new head coach of Multan Sultans after serving the franchise as the team’s assistant coach for the last five years. The head coach, Abdul Rehman will replace Andy Flower’s position in the Multan-based franchise.

In a statement released by the former coach, Andy Flower wrote that the last five years with the Multan Sultans were amazing, and was privileged to be a part of the franchise.

The Zimbabwean coach, Andy Flower revealed that after joining Multan Sultans he asked the team authorities to bring Abdul Rehman to be his assistant coach.

Flower further praised Abdul Rehman and said that he is an exceptional coach and very professional and that he will bring glory to the team.

“The past five years have been a great journey for the Multan Sultans and I am privileged to have been part of it. When I agreed to join the Sultans, my first request was for Abdul Rehman to be my assistant coach. He is an exceptional coach and a consummate professional, and I am confident the team will benefit with him at the helm,” Andy Flower said.

Last month, Andy Flower was revealed as the new head coach of the Indian Premier League (IPL) side Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for a three-year deal. In the 2023 IPL season, Andy Flower led the Lucknow-based franchise and took the team to two consecutive playoffs in their first two years in the tournament.

After the news came into the limelight, Abdul Rehman said that he is looking forward to carrying the former coach’s legacy in the Multan-based franchise and that he looks forward to clinching in the upcoming trophies in Pakistan Super League (PSL).

“It is an honour to be carrying forward Andy Flower’s legacy at the Multan Sultans. Together with our leadership team, our coaching and support teams, we look forward to taking Multan Sultans forward with passion and innovation,” Abdul Rehman said.

Multan Sultans recently sacked Mushtaq Ahmed, the spin-bowling coach’s contract. Ahmed has been with the team for the last four years.

Nathan Leamon, who worked with the England cricket team and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) joined Multan Sultans as their new director of strategy.
