Abhimanyu Easwaran To Arjun Tendulkar: Here Are Indian Players Like Sarfaraz Khan Whose International Career Seems Over Even Before It Began. After smacking 3 stunning centuries in Ranji Trophy 2023, Sarfaraz Khan became a popular name in Indian cricket this year.
Many experts, players, and former cricketers voiced views in favor of Sarfaraz Khan’s Test debut. However, selectors overlooked him for IND vs AUS Test series in March 2023.
Sarfaraz Khan did not get a place in IND vs WI Test series too, probably due to his miserable stint in IPL 2023. His international career has failed to take off so far, even after his amazing batting show in various domestic circuits. Sarfaraz Khan is not the only Indian batter like this. Here we take a peek at 5 players like Sarfaraz Khan whose international career seems to be over even before it began.

Abhimanyu Easwaran To Arjun Tendulkar: Here Are Indian Players Like Sarfaraz Khan Whose International Career Seems Over Even Before It Began
5. Abhimanyu Easwaran
Abhimanyu Easwaran is the first player on this list. After his dominant batting show in domestic tournaments and the India A team, Easwaran was picked in India vs Bangladesh Test series last year.
Despite India being a powerful team in the series, he did not get any opportunities to make his Test debut. Later, he was snubbed from IND vs AUS Test series. In his First Class career, the Bengal player has an average of 47+. In List A and T20’s career, he owns a batting average of 46+.

However, the top-order batter is yet to make his international debut and will turn 28 years old this year. Easwaram was expected to feature in IND vs WI series but it didn’t happen. Like Sarfaraz Khan, his international career is yet to take off.
4. Sachin Baby
Sachin Baby, who shares his name with batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, has grabbed the limelight with his impressive performances on many occasions. He is a consistent performer in the domestic circuit. He finished as the 5th highest run-scorer in Ranji Trophy 2023.
The left-handed batter has batting averages of almost 40s in his domestic career. However, he never made his international debut and has already reached 34. Sachin Baby has played more than 80 games in each format at the domestic level. His international career seems to be over even before it began.
3. Tilak Varma
Tilak Varma has been a consistent performer for the last few years in domestic leagues like Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare, and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Even in Indian Premier League, the left-handed batsman is a consistent batter for Mumbai Indians for the last few seasons.
However, selectors never roped in Varma in any international series. He was expected to make his debut last year after his superb show in IPL. This year, Varma is neither picked in IND vs WI ODI series nor in IND vs WI Test series.

2. Arjun Tendulkar
Arjun Tendulkar made his IPL debut in 2023 season. He gave a decent show in the first two games. However, his one expensive over against Punjab Kings put doubts on his bowling strength.
The left-arm seamer was dropped from the last stage of IPL 2023 by MI skipper Rohit Sharma. For many years, fans are waiting to witness junior Tendulkar play for India. With his unimpressive stint in IPL 2023, his international debut seems doubtful in the coming years.

1. Jitesh Sharma
Jitesh Sharma was picked in a T20I series earlier this year as a wicketkeeper-batsman. In the last two seasons of IPL, the right-handed batsman gave a glimpse of his hard-hitting batting style.
In many games, Sharma attacked bowlers from the first ball itself and turned the outcome of the matches. With his powerful performances, he got a chance to be part of the national team but did not make his debut.
With players like Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, KS Bharat, Rishabh Pant, and KL Rahul in the fray, there is fierce competition in the keepers’ category across formats. Jitesh Sharma was sidelined in IND vs WI ODI series and it looks like his international career cannot take off anytime soon.
