Former Indian batsman Abhinav Mukund has stated his views on the Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s captaincy so far in the T20 World Cup 2021 in an exclusive video chat with Cricket Addictor. Kohli has been in the spotlight in recent times after the two consecutive losses to Pakistan and New Zealand and India is on the verge of losing a semifinal spot as well.
India has underperformed totally to the expectations of the fans and it hasn’t been the ideal start to the T20 World cup 2021. Virat Kohli has announced that he will step down as the Indian T20I captain after the big tournament and hence, he would like to finish on a good note.
I Don’t Think There Is Much You Can Do – Abhinav Mukund
Abhinav Mukund mentioned that Virat Kohli has been average in terms of captaincy and reckoned that the selection going right is far from his captaincy being a question mark. He added that it will be crucial for Kohli’s men to show character from here on in the tournament.
“Virat Kohli, the captain hasn’t been bad or great either. There have been times when the selection has been under question but I don’t think there is much you can do. It is a collective failure with the bat in both games and what’s more important is how they take it on from here,” Abhinav Mukund was quoted as saying to Cricket Addictor in an exclusive video chat.
He Would Want To Go Out With A Bang – Abhinav Mukund
Abhinav Mukund noted that Virat Kohli has been the man to step during crucial times for India and reckoned that he would want to finish well with his captaincy in T20 internationals nearing its end.
He’s always been a guy who’s stood up under pressure but most importantly his last tournament as captain, he would want to go out with a bang. So he will look to come good in the next couple of games,” he added.
