AFG vs PAK: Pakistan Not Withdrawing ODI Series Against Afghanistan

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to not pull out of Afghanistan bilateral series. Earlier, Cricket Australia (CA) refused to play 3 match ODI Series, citing that the board doesn’t support the move of not allowing Afghanistan girls & women to study. CA’s decision raised a lot of eyebrows.
Pakistan & Afghanistan were supposed to play ODI Series in 2021 but due to some logistical issues, the series was postponed. The two nations have great rivalry where in the 2019 World Cup we witnessed a cracker of a game where Pakistan spoiled the party of Afghanistan.

PCB Chairman Najam Sethi on Afghanistan Tour
Najam Sethi was seen attending press conference and was asked about Afghanistan tour. “I met with the executive members of Afghanistan Cricket Board and they were asking us to play a (ODI) series but we didn’t find any attraction playing the series.” said Najam Sethi.

“It’s mainly because the series was meant for the [Super League] points, and now no matter who wins it won’t make a difference. So we agreed to play a series of three T20Is in Sharjah just after the PSL subject to government approval. We will share 50% of the revenue from the series equally. And we will jointly outsource the production.” he added.
Exciting Contest on Cards
The dates of the T20I Series are yet to be announced. We saw in the 2022 Asia Cup that how Pakistan from nowhere defeated Afghanistan. The two sides have a great rivalry and as the matches are going to be played in Sharjah, we can expect a competitive matches.
Afghanistan is a force to reckon with in T20I format as they have got a lot of match-winners present in the team and are not a dependent on a single individual. All eyes would be on the newly appointed T20I skipper Rashid Khan. It would be interesting to see whether his own performance gets affected with the burden of captaincy.
