Pakistan National Cricket Team pacers were breathing fire in the ODI series opener against Afghanistan National Cricket Team and they absolutely destroyed the batting unit of the side to bundle them out for 59.

The first ODI of the three-match series between the Men In Green and the Afghans was held at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium, Sooriyawewa, Hambantota on Tuesday, August 22.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first in the match, but they struggled against the spin trio of Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Rashid Khan, and Mohammad Nabi.

Imam-ul-Haq showed great resilience and played a wonderful knock of 61 runs to finish as the top run-getter for his side. Other than Imam, Shadab Khan, and Iftikhar Ahmed chipped in with 39 and 30 runs to help Pakistan reach a decent total of 201.

Although the target in front of the Afghanistan batters was not very big, they were unable to survive against the deadly pace trio of Haris Rauf, Shaheen Afridi, and Naseem Shah.

Shaheen and Naseem were good as usual, but Haris Rauf this time was unplayable. The express pacer bowled outstanding lines and lengths and made life hard for the batters.

Haris dismantled the Afghanistan batting line-up and bagged a remarkable 5-wicket haul. Shaheen Afridi got two wickets while Naseem Shah and Shadab Khan picked one each.

Afghanistan were bowled out for just 59 inside 20 overs as Azmatullah Omarzai got retired hurt. This was the lowest total registered by a team against the Men In Green in ODIs. Also, 59 is the second-lowest score in ODIs for Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, the 142-run victory of the Babar Azam-led side over Afghanistan is the biggest margin of win in terms of runs for a team after posting a total of less than 210 in ODIs.
