Afghanistan is all set to take on South Africa in a three-match ODI series. The AFG vs SA ODI series will be played in UAE and all three games will be hosted by Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Hashmatullah Shahidi leads Afghanistan in the series. Afghan has played two ODI games against South Africa in the past and lost both of them. This is the first time they wrestle with Proteas in a bilateral ODI campaign.

The AFG vs SA 1st ODI takes place on Wednesday, September 18 and the hosts will leave no stone unturned to form a strong playing 11 for the match. Ahead of their first clash, below is Afghan's predicted playing 11 for the match.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz will be the opener for Afghanistan in the 1st ODI vs South Africa. He gave a marvelous batting show in the previous ODI series against Ireland by hitting 172 runs in 2 games.

Riaz Hassan

Riaz Hassan will be the other opener for the side in the absence of another experienced opener. The right-handed batsman has played 5 ODI games and hit 120 runs at 30+ average.

Rahmat Shah

Rahmat Shah will be the one-down batsman for Afghanistan in the opening match. He was also part of the previous ODI series against Ireland.

Hashmatullah Shahidi (C)

Hashmatullah Shahidi is the captain of Afghanistan in the ODI series and will lead the side in the opening encounter. He will take a spot in the middle-order.

Azmatullah Omarzai

Azmatullah Omarzai will be a pace all-rounder for the team and take a spot in the middle-order. He slammed 97 runs against South Africa in the ODI World Cup last year.

Mohammad Nabi

Mohammad Nabi will be a crucial spin all-rounder for the side. Nabi has a lot of experience and can help the team with both bat and ball.

Ikram Alikhil (WK)

Rashid Khan is back to lead the spin attack for the side after missing many crucial series due to injury. He will attack the Proteas batters with his lethal spin attack.

Noor Ahmad

Noor Ahmad will be another spinner for the team in the series and will attack from his left-arm variation. His pair with Rashid Khan has emerged fruitful in the past.
