The hype for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy has already started. The tournament is considered to be a quite fascinating one as there’s fierce competition amongst the teams. It won’t be wrong to say it is a stepping stone to getting a chance to play in the prestigious IPL Tournament.

There are a total of 10 teams in the tournament. This tournament is India’s Domestic League and selectors and franchises keep an eye on this event. The pitches are also batting friendly which means there would be non-stop entertainment for the fans.

Ajinkya Rahane Set to Lead Mumbai’s Team

India’s star studded batter Ajinkya Rahane has been given the responsibility for leading Mumbai Team. It would be interesting to see whether Rahane would be able to match the standards of T20I Cricket. The right-handed batter was a force to reckon with in T20 format but since last 3-4 years his form has dipped.

Rahane would be aware that captaining Mumbai Side will not be easy by any means. Rahane would be hoping to get some match practice in the tournament as there are ‘n’ chances that KKR won’t retain him for the 2023 IPL.

Prithvi Shaw & Shardul Thakur Join Mumbai

The inclusion of Prithvi Shaw would be a great boost as the right-handed batter knows how to accelerate in the power-play overs. It won’t be wrong to say that Shaw has been overlooked by the selectors in the recent T20I Series. The batter would like to prove a point that he is not done yet.

Shardul Thakur’s addition to the squad means that they bat deep and can be assured of some heavy blows at the back end of the innings. The bowler would be unhappy after missing out on ICC T20 World Cup 2022 as last year he was a part of the team. Shardul should work on his batting a little bit more and try to get into the team as an all-rounder as India has a lot of bowlers present.
