Yash Dhull has been named the captain of the India U-19 team for the upcoming ICC U-19 World Cup 2022, the all-India Junior Selection Committee, on Sunday, announced a 17-member squad for the marquee event and Dhull was given the privilege to lead the team.

Dhull is a Delhi-born cricketer who has a good amount of captaincy experience in his bag as he had led Delhi’s U-16, U-19, and India ‘A’ U-19 team in past. Also, he has been named the captain of the team for the 2021 ACC U-19 Asia Cup.

The young right-handed batsman has been in sensational form lately, he smashed 302 runs for the DDCA in just 5 games at a tremendous average of 75.50 in the 2021-22 Vinoo Mankad Trophy.

I Had To Ensure He Got The Best Kit And Gear To Play From An Early Age – Yash Dhull’s Father

The family of Yash Dhull has also made certain sacrifices to make sure that he grows in cricket and one day makes the family and the whole country proud. Recently, in an interview, Yash’s father told that he worked as an executive with a cosmetic brand and he had to give it up to support his ward’s cricket. Also, Yash’s father told that he had made sure that Yash got the best kit and gear from his early days. Speaking to Times Now Yash’s father said:

I had to ensure he got the best kit and gear to play from an early age. I gave him the best of English willow bats. He didn’t have just one bat, I kept upgrading them. We had cut down on our expenses. My father was an army man. The pension that he received was used to run the household. Yash would always wonder how we were managing it.

Meanwhile, previously Yash Dhull has stated that he follows everyone’s game closely in cricket and learn from them. He said:

Anyone who plays at the international level is good enough to learn from. I follow everyone’s game closely. I don’t copy anybody, but everyone is my hero.”

The 14th edition of the marquee U-19 World Cup is scheduled to begin from January 14 in West Indies and a total of 48 games will be played and 16 teams will be competing for the championship. Talking about India they will lock horns with South Africa on January 15, and then the Yash Dhull-led side will go head-to-head with Ireland on January 19 and Uganda on January 22.
