Former Pakistan spinner and coach Saqlain Mushtaq had reckoned that Pakistan is moving forward with more confidence despite the loss in the semi-final to Australia. Pakistan had staged a phenomenal performance in the T20 World cup until the semi-finals, where the men in yellow managed to break their unbeaten record.

It was complete dominance from the Pakistan side in all their five games of the Super 12 stages and certainly proved to be the favourites for the title. However, the drop catch of Matthew Wade in the 19th over of the semi-final proved to be very costly as the left-hander hit three consecutive sixes off the next 3 deliveries to win the game for Australia.
