Arjun Tendulkar Set To Play For Goa In The Upcoming 2022-23 Domestic Season
Mumbai Indians (MI) pacer Arjun Tendulkar will be switching allegiances to Goa for the upcoming domestic season, he confirmed on Thursday.
Tendulkar has played just two T20Is for the Mumbai side and will be heading over to play for Goa in order to gain more time on the field and hone his skills.
“Getting maximum game time on the ground is important for Arjun at this juncture of his career. We believe that the shift will improve the probability of Arjun featuring in more competitive matches. He is embarking on a new phase of his cricketing career,” Sachin Tendulkar said.
The move panned out quickly due to Goa needing a left-arm pacer in their bowling attack, as confirmed by the association’s President.
“We are in need of a left-arm pacer and Arjun has showed interest. We generally recruit professionals and if he suits our team’s requirements he will be picked. It is up to our selectors,” GCA President, Suraj Lotilkar said.
“All Arjun Tendulkar needs is some match time so that he can prove his abilities” – Sahil Ankola
Arjun is in dire need of gameplay and with the Mumbai domestic side loaded on talent and depth, he couldn’t make it into the playing XI.
“We picked him for the Ranji Trophy last year but he could not make the XI. He is an extremely talented boy and all he needs is some match time so that he can prove his abilities. I hope this switch will serve that purpose,” Ankola, a former India pacer, told Cricbuzz.
Arjun will be keen to impress the management and make it into the side that will play the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in October later this year.
