Arshdeep Singh sends BCCI selectors message, blows away India B with stunning six-wicket haul

Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh starred with the ball as India D capped off their campaign in the Duleep Trophy 2024-25 with a brilliant win over India B.

India D began their campaign in the tournament with two defeats. In the first game against India C, they suffered a 4-wicket loss. In the second game, they suffered a crushing 186-run loss at the hands of India A. And in their final game of the tournament, the Shreyas Iyer-led side thrashed India B by 257 runs.

Asked to bat first, India D scored 349 runs. Wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson starred with the bat for India D, scoring 106 runs off 101 balls with the help of 12 fours and 3 sixes.

Openers Devdutt Padikkal (50), S Bharat (52), and number three Ricky Bhui (56) scored fifties as well. For India B, right-arm pacer Navdeep Saini picked up five wickets while spinner Rahul Chahar claimed three wickets.

In reply, India B scored 282 runs in the first innings. Captain Abhimanyu Easwaran led from the front and scored 116 runs while opening the innings. Washington Sundar also played a fine knock of 87 runs while the other batters failed to impress. For India D, Saurabh Kumar picked up five wickets.

In the second innings, a brilliant unbeaten knock of 119 runs from Bhui helped India D score 305 runs. Captain Iyer scored 50 runs too while first-innings' centurion Samson scored 45 runs. For India B, Mukesh Kumar and Saini picked up four and three wickets respectively.

Chasing 373 runs, India B were bowled out for just 115 runs inside 23 overs. The Easwaran-led side never really looked in contention to chase down the total as it kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Barring Nitish Reddy, who scored an unbeaten 40, no other India B batter could even reach the 20-run mark.

For India D, Arshdeep Singh made the difference with the ball. The India pacer picked up six wickets for just 40 runs in 11.2 overs. The remaining four wickets were taken by his bowling partner Aditya Thakare. Captain Iyer did not use any other bowler as Arshdeep Singh and Thakare joined hands to bowl 22.2 overs in a row and picked up all the ten wickets.

Arshdeep Singh has finished his campaign in the Duleep Trophy with a total of 13 wickets. In the first match, he picked up 1 wicket in each innings before taking two more wickets in the second game. In the third game against India B, he picked up 3 wickets in the first innings before taking 6 more in the second innings.
