England cricket team suffered a heart-wrenching defeat in the opening Test match of Ashes 2023. The wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow missed quite a few opportunities behind the stumps. Jonny Bairstow had a decent outing with the bat though after scoring 98 runs in the test match which included 78 in the 1st innings.

Australia would be pumped up as not many gave them a chance when the side required 54 runs to win with 2 wickets left. Pat Cummins played a captain’s knock of 44 runs in 73 balls and struck 4 fours and 2 sixes. Pat Cummins seemed untroubled against the bowlers.

England got a wake-up call as their bowling lineup got exposed. The legendary pacer James Anderson wasn’t amongst the wickets which somewhat hurt the team. Perhaps, the management will have to use him as a secret weapon.
